Snack #1: Caramel Popcorn with Peanut Butter
We have to start this list off with a spin on traditional popcorn. After all, what’s movie night without popcorn?! For this recipe, cook corn kernels over medium-high heat. Once cooked, you can add in the peanuts. Then, in a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, and salt and bring that to a boil. Once it’s brought to a boil you can cook it for three minutes.
Next up, remove it from the heat and stir in the peanut butter and vanilla extract. Now you can pour the mixture over the popcorn and mix it until it is all combined. The last step is to spread the popcorn on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for one hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
Snack #2: S’mores
S’mores is one of the best snacks for movie night and TV marathons. Who said that you need a campfire to make one of the best treats there is – s’mores?! You can cook s’mores in an oven, and no one will even know the difference!
To make this classic treat, arrange 12 graham cracker halves on a baking sheet and place a piece of chocolate on top, followed by a marshmallow. Bake at 400° F for three to five minutes, and then once removed from the oven, place the other graham cracker half on top of the marshmallow and gently press down.
Voila! There you have s’mores without the campfire!
Snack #3: Cheese Fries
If you love cheese and fries then you need to try this combo! This movie night snack is so easy to make and doesn’t require that many ingredients.
To make these cheese fries, take out some frozen fries from the oven and bake for about 20 minutes (or go by the directions on the package). Of course, you can make your own fries but if you’re looking for a quick and easy treat, frozen is the way to go.
Once your fries are cooked, garnish them with your favourite shredded cheese, bacon and scallions and return it to the oven until the cheese is melted. Top it off with pickled jalapeños and tomatoes and there you have some very yummy cheese fries!
Snack #4: Creamy Avocado Hummus Dip with Oatmeal Crackers
Looking for something on the healthier side? Then this creamy avocado hummus dip with oatmeal crackers is the perfect dip to whip up in the kitchen. Dips are always a hit, so even though this one is healthier, we’re sure no one will be able to turn it down!
For this recipe, you’ll need avocado, lime, canned chickpeas, tahini, garlic, olive oil, and salt and pepper. All you need to do is combine all of the ingredients in a food processor until smooth. Then you can adjust the seasoning by adding more lime and tahini. Add olive oil until you have the desired consistency and pair with oatmeal crackers.
Snack #5: Champagne Jello Shots
For the adults, you can’t go wrong with champagne jello shots! Here’s how to make them.
In a medium saucepan, combine champagne, sugar, and lemon juice. Sprinkle the mixture with the gelatin and allow it to bloom for three minutes, do not stir. Once the gelatin has bloomed, heat the mixture over medium-low heat and whisk it together until the gelatin has dissolved. Do not let the mixture boil.
Now you can remove it from heat and stir in the ginger ale. Be sure to let the carbonation fizz out and then evenly pour it into shot glasses. Refrigerate for at least two to three hours until it’s firmly set. As a fun added touch, sprinkle the jello shots with edible gold stars just before you serve them.
Snack #6: Nutella Candy Bar Brownie
Our mouths are watering just from the name of this delicious snack! If you and the others that are settling down to watch the movie have a sweet tooth, this snack option will not disappoint.
It’s really easy to make this snack too. You can either purchase brownies that are already made, a brownie box mix or make your brownies from scratch. From there, all you need to do is spread the Nutella on the brownie, and then garnish it with cut up pieces of your favourite candy bars. Some good options are M&Ms, peanut butter cups, Kit-Kats, Snickers, and whatever else your heart desires. Talk about one sweet snack!
